LOW VISION SERVICES
Patients with decreased vision from conditions such as macular degeneration, strokes, optic nerve disorders, cataracts, and glaucoma often benefit from our low vision services. Various low vision aids may help to restore useful reading or distance vision when surgery is not indicated. Devices include magnifying lenses, special glasses, telescopes, and closed circuit television. Rehabilitation of patients depends on a thorough evaluation, prescription of appropriate optical aids, instruction in the use of the aids, and sympathetic encouragement. Our highly-trained optometrists are primarily involved in this work.
